Why do celebrities/singers have their own perfumes?

Like, Paris Hilton, Britney Spears, Fergie (Stacy Ferguson). Is it a perfume they create/like, or is it just a perfume with their names on it?

Hell no! LOL They just go in a meeting with the provider of the frgrance company, sit down, smell frgrances, and pick the one they like. I really don’t like how they do that.

different perfumes have different ingrediants so they smell different. these celeberties mix up their own favorite ingrediants to make a smell that suites them. then they sell it to others who agree. hope i have cleared the fog a little.

They are offered a heavy retainer of several hundred thousand to millions of dollars to put their name on a perfume. They also receive a percentage of all sales. Therefore, they make a substantial amount of money by using their name recognition as a fragrance seller.
Let’s be honest, perfume is pretty much flavored water, and has an insane profit margin.
In regards to creating their perfume…no they don’t do that. However, they do get to smell the perfume before they put their name on it to make sure they don’t think the perfume sucks. Then, they put their name on one that they like.
