We’re sure Nicholas Hoult is a lovely guy in real life (plus he’s going out with Jennifer Lawrence, who’s great, so he can’t be that bad) but acting-wise he lies somewhere between Daniel Radcliffe and Robert Pattinson, our two proudest thespian exports. Luckily his newest film, Jack the Giant Killer, has been directed by Brian Singer and also stars Ewan McGregor, Stanley Tucci, Ian McShane and Bill Nighy, so hopefully despite Nicholas’ best effort to pull the audience out of any sense of immersion they might feel qhile watching him it should still be pretty good when it finally arrives in cinemas next March.
Here’s the synopsis:
“Jack the Giant Slayer” tells the story of an ancient war that is reignited when a young farmhand unwittingly opens a gateway between our world and a fearsome race of giants. Unleashed on the Earth for the first time in centuries, the giants strive to reclaim the land they once lost, forcing the young man, Jack (Nicholas Hoult) into the battle of his life to stop them. Fighting for a kingdom, its people, and the love of a brave princess, he comes face to face with the unstoppable warriors he thought only existed in legend–and gets the chance to become a legend himself.
