What Celebrities Are Doing

Firstly we’d like to say how much we like the above picture. No matter how batshit Amanda Bynes is, this picture makes it kind of okay. If you don’t know who she is, have a quick look at our potted history and the above gallery to get you back up to speed with our favourite new fruitcake.

But this story isn’t about amazing pictures, it’s about Amanda smoking so much of the devil’s parsley she’s been talking to light fittings and scaring children. According to a resident of her apartment building, anyway:

“[Amanda was] spotted wondering the halls of her New York City apartment building at all hours of the night. She talks to herself in language that in non-sensical and has been hearing voices. Amanda is also extremely paranoid and thinks there are tracking devices in the smoke alarms in the apartment. She looks completely disheveled and she is scaring some of the other residents in the building with kids,”

“Amanda’s increasingly disturbing behavior is related to the fact that she smokes pot. It makes her more paranoid and instead of mellowing her out, it does the opposite. Amanda begins talking faster and just can’t seem to sit still,”

Weirdly for a celebrity, Amanda actually responded on Twitter to the various accusations :

“What up @nydailynews? I’m being stalked by paparazzi outside my apartment, so I block myself from them. I know your paper is run by a bunch of old folks but maybe stop writing the same retarded thing about me.”

“Dear @UsWeekly – I don’t know why u feel the need to make up stories about me. I don’t talk to light fixtures. Contact me to ask what I’m up to, instead of stalking people who always make up crazy stories about me! Tweet me your contact email. I’ll email you then always email me to fact check when someone calls in a fake story about me, they’re all fake! I don’t want to be in your magazine in a negative way! I do nothing wrong! Thanks!”

It’s strange because she genuinely seems to want to be in the gossip magazines and you’ve only got to have a quick look at her Twitter to realise that she’s obsessed with pictures of herself, even offering to take selfies for any stories publications might be writing about her:

After speaking to some of the contestants from last year’s The Voice, we heard froma couple of them that they don’t actually get that much one-on-one time with their appointed judges once the pre-recorded rounds are over. One of them even said that they didn’t think they’d had much more than an hour in total with them throughout the whole series.

At the time we thought it might just have been an overexaggeration, but it seems as if rather than an hour being the exception to the rule, it is in fact the norm. Here’s what a mystery source had to say to The Sun about this year’s comp:

“It’s a bit of a sham and very disheartening for anyone who has gone through the gruelling audition process and battle rounds and now finds they’re on their own until the judges return. 

The Voice is billed as a singing competition with personal tutoring from celebrities.But the truth is it was all filmed months ago on a very fast schedule and now the wannabes won’t see Tom, Danny, Will and Jessie again until just before the live shows.”

Unsurprisingly the Beeb denied the claims:

“It’s ridiculous to suggest the coaches haven’t spent enough time coaching their artists. Viewers will see as the shows progress all four spent a great deal of time with their acts.”

Honestly though, you’d be hard pressed to think there wasn’t something like this going on behind the scenes. With the exception of perhaps Tom, the Judges are all ego-driven fruitcakes, keener to hear their own voices than anyone else’s. It’s hardly surprising they supposedly don’t give a shit about the show – it’s basically just a PR exercise for them. After all, who the fuck listened to the Script before it first started?

We’ve got to say, however weird and obnoxious Simon Cowell is, he has a vested interest in the winner of X Factor and as such, wants the show to be as good as possible to promote them. Where’s that drive in The Voice? It doesn’t exist. And no matter how much happy-clappy ‘You’re the best thing I’ve ever heard’ bullshit the judges come up with on The Voice, it’s never going to be believable.

Over the weekend, semi-professional David Bowie impersonator Tilda Swinton slept for eight hours in a glass display case in the Museum of Modern Art in New York. The exhibit was part of an installation titled The Maybe by Turner Prize-nominated artist Cornelia Parker. It’s the second time Tilda’s done this particular exhibit however, the last time being in 1995.

Don’t know what else to say, really. Something about one rule for celebrities wanting to sleep in a public place and another for homelss people maybe. Although, perhaps if tramps started sleeping in glass cases people would think they were exhibits too. Having said that, if homeless people started asking for a couple of quid for a new glass case you’d probably stop giving them cash, wouldnt you? A real catch 22.
