There was much confusion yesterday (May 15) after hip hop producer P Diddy began tweeting about a “big announcement” followed by much enthusing about the British costume drama Downton Abbey, describing it as one of his “favourite shows”. Diddy even changed all his userpics to Downton related images. Followers initially assumed the rapper had been hacked. But today he began a countdown to his big news… that he was playing the first black character to appear in the show. And that he’d been in it since the start. Oh. Wait a second…

Costume Designers Guild Awards 2012: Girl With Dragon Tattoo, W.E & Downton Abbey win

It was the Costume Designers Guild Awards at the Beverley Hilton (where Whitney died, FYI) last night and a load of celeb-y people turned up to steal the glory from support their needle and thread wielding colleagues… Considering the amount of trends that come from the screen (try escaping 20s flapper dresses next season!), it’s rather jolly nice that the costume designers get some recognition.
