US Open Golf 2013 Weather: Complete Guide to Surviving the Rain at Merion

by admin on Jun.13, 2013, under News

The only aspect of golf this side of the Atlantic Ocean the United States Golf Association can’t control is the weather, and golf’s governing body is getting a stern reminder of that fact this week at the 2013 U.S. Open. Like a strong-willed woman, Mother Nature isn’t going to yield her influence at host Merion Golf Club this week, and that’s going to make the  156 men  competing this weekend …

Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 review: Golf to a tee?

by admin on Apr.05, 2013, under Latest Celebrity Gossip

The danger with sporting games such as Tiger Woods is that there is a real chance that you will just be playing a rehash of last years offering with a slightly rebranded menu screen. That is a real bore especially when you’re handing over £40 or so of your hard earned wedge. So if you are looking to spend £40 on a rehash of last year’s game then go elsewhere because EA and that golfer Tiger have done a fine job of creating a game that feels very new for a franchise.

For some, golf is an old man’s game. Well, now it is a game with old men in to be played by young people. Get it? No? I’ll explain, they have added a new feature, Legends of the Majors. It starts in 1873 at the very first open Championship played at St. Andrews. Through the years you get to play many memorable golfing tournaments from old to new.  Obviously with Tigers name being on the tin you get to play many of his memorable victories too. What is fun with this is depending on the era you are playing your equipment matches the year. Even if you are a Tiger Woods pro you will find it difficult with these geriatric clubs. The viewing is effected to with grainy filters to make it look bloody old. It works for a bit and then you remember its 2013 and you are playing a computer game, and a good one.

Noting how vast the social network juggernaut has become EA has continued with the online Country Club. This is great, if you have any friends, if you don’t it is, well, pointless. They have changed it from last year so now you can have up to 100 members in your club. You can have in house tournaments with a maximum of 24 players. Alternatively if you and your online companions feel your club is particularly skilled then you can challenge another club for the honour of the best clan of digital golfers.

The career mode is obviously back and is just as good as it has ever been. There are few changes here. There is the introduction of career mode for females, LPGA (Ladies Professional Golf Association) which has been a long time coming with the female side of the sport becoming increasingly popular. What has changed with the career mode is you can now try and win the Grand Slam, which means winning all four majors in the same year.  Good luck with that.

In all Tiger Woods succeeds as a new fresh slice of the franchise. There is always room for improvement, they wouldn’t make a perfect game or you wouldn’t buy next year’s installment. The game is great if you have played the game before. I feel it wouldn’t be good for a novice or for somebody who doesn’t have a great interest in golf.  Also the online community is good but has its flaws. However it is an enjoyable game and is good to play before the sun comes out and you can play golf in the real world, or go to the pub.

We played it on theXbox 360, but Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 14 is out on both Xbox 360 and PS3 now.
