Gwyneth Paltrow loves lecturing the general public about the world of pretentious overpriced rubbish. It’s as if she sees our drab little lives and wants us to know exactly how boring and unambitious we all are by showing us that there is such a thing as a $400 towel. Having said that, even she’s managed to excel herself in a recent interview with Harper’s Bazaar, smashing the previous record for talking bullshit which, unsuprisingly, was also set by her only days ago when she explained how to put hot water in a cup.

Bearing in mind some of this is simply the author of the article paraphrasing, you still get a pretty good idea of what Gwyneth was trying to say:

Having survived her 10th London winter (she got through January by assigning it “international month,” and amusing Moses and his big sister, Apple, 9, with a visiting Italian chef, Japanese anime screenings, and hand-rolled-sushi lessons, no less), Paltrow admits that her dreams of relocating the family to their recently acquired residence in Brentwood, California, are becoming ever more urgent. “Just to have my kids be in the sun every day—picking avocados, going for a swim,” she says. “Even for two years or something, and come back when they go to senior school.”

What exactly did the chef do? Juggle? Make balloon animals? Fart the theme tune to Tellytubbies? Christ. This is not a present any child we’ve ever met would want, and the idea of a chef ‘amusing’ anyone under the age of 25 is bonkers. And we can’t even remember the last time we all went avocado picking.

But Gwyneth doesn’t stop at how she’s trying to turn her children into mini Truman Capotes. She goes on to talk about having her face lasered, as if it’s something you’d do after a heavy night on the tiles:

“I really used to be bad with products, but now I exfoliate every night and use a lot of organic oils on my face. I have a great dermatologist in L.A. who gave me this amazing laser the last time I was there. It’s called Thermage. It’s not invasive. I went out to dinner right afterward and I didn’t look crazy, but it’s quite painful. It feels like someone’s smacking your face with a rubber band that has an electric shock in it. But I would do it again, because I feel like it took five years off my face.”

Finally she discusses a recent three day ‘retreat’ in Arizona during which a rock apparently spoke to her:

“Every day I set an intention, and on the third day I said, ‘I would like some guidance in terms of these life decisions that are coming up.’ I’ll never forget it. I was starting to hike up the Red Rocks, and honestly, it was as if I’d heard the rock say: ‘You have the answers. You are your teacher.’ I thought I was having an auditory hallucination.”

We think this is probably the quote we’ll take away , however:

“I feel that I have the most incredible women friends, some who are super famous, some who I’ve had since I was four years old.”

How marvellous.

This brilliant kid presumably uploaded the above clip of him covering Rihanna’s S&M to the internet himself, but we couldn’t find it so have instead stuck with the one we came across on MasterSpaghetty’s Youtube channel. Too bad they label him ’creepy’ – he’s not creepy, he’s great – but thanks anyway! 

We’re particularly enjoying the current top comment - ”I’ve never seen someone so British in my life”. Yep, that’s what we’re all like over here. If only…
