Everyone loves Cher Lloyd. Alright, probably not everyone but most people. Most people love Cher Lloyd. Ok, not most. Some people love Cher Lloyd, but we’ve never met any. But there are some. Actually, there are a fuck of a lot as her perfume (which she didn’t even make) has flown off the shelves at £15 a pop. That’s more than her album costs and yet thousands of people love Cher Lloyd enough to buy a bottle of sticky, smelly liquid just because it has her name on it. And she’s just had a platinum selling single in the US. And has 2.2 million Twitter followers. What’s going on?

There really is nothing Cher Lloyd can do to make people like her. Just look at last weekend’s V Festival. She went up on stage looking like an eccentric bank manager, tried to sing her fairly unpopular songs, and was then promptly forced off by the crowd, who realised that a bottle of piss, like a painting, is worth a thousand words.

Very much like The Wanted and Daniel Radcliffe, it’s hard to explain exactly how Cher Lloyd has become so popular. Her music is average paint-by-numbers pop and even she’s admitted her personality  is fairly abrasive and unpleasant. It’s almost as if people are liking her simply out of spite  in an attempt to punish themselves for allowing X Factor to continue being made.
