Dancing With The Stars and its many offshoots are now programmes about celebrities losing weight. Unfortunately, it seems to come as a total surprise to the couch potatoes they invite on that exercise can help them avoid being gastric banded, so we then have to listen to contestants like Kelly Osbourne droning on about how losing weight and having a slim figure has really enabled them to grasp life by the balls and screw the shit out of it, apparently unaware of this as she waddled from diner to diner only weeks before.

Of course, this is absolutely fantastic news for her and the countless other surprised contestants, but my God does it make boring reading.

Carol McGiffin and her sassy TV pals were out in force last night, swarming over the Soho landscape like a plague of locusts, devouring anything under the age of 30 with a pulse. Apparently it was for some New York DVD launch, although I doubt any of them had the faintest idea why they were out or even where they were. They’re such empowered, strong women. We envy them.
