What Celebrities Are Doing

There are lots of reasons to dislike Courtney Love, most of which seem to stem from her increasingly loose grip on reality. Of course, no-one’s saying it’s entirely her fault. If those drugs weren’t so gosh-darned delicious, and didn’t  somehow keep finding their way down her noggin and inbetween her toes and into the back of her knees, maybe she could live a normal life. But they are, and she can’t.

Whatever you think of the Russell Brand/Katy Perry saga and the fact that they possibly married a little too quickly and then started resembling one another, they’ve always seemed like a decent-ish pair compared to the Katie Prices/Peter Andres of the world. More to the point, it’s sort of obvious that the reason they split was because they didn’t have much common nor see each other very often (if we were going speculate, we’d probably say THIS was the straw that broke the camel’s back). Brand’s split announcement seemed fairly heartfelt, so it’s a bit of a shame – albeit not very surprising, that the tabloid stories are now being wrung tighter than his trousers…

The Artist is a love letter to Hollywood’s golden age of silent cinema.

Hollywood, in 1927. George Valentin (Jean Dujardin) is the most famous silent film star in the world. His films draw full houses. He’s falling in love with a young dancer called Peppy Miller (Berenice Bejo) whom he gives her first break in movies.  

But sound is coming to all the film studios – and he’s soon out of a job. Matters are made worse when Peppy becomes a star of the talkies. Nothing can pull him out of his downward spiral, not even his co star, a show stealing dog.
