It’s reassuring to know that Britain still doesn’t totally get Taylor Swift. She just doesn’t seem all that appealing, on any level. But America thinks she’s the cat’s pyjamas (the fancy pyjamas not the ones he slobs around in on Sunday). She took home eight statues at the Billboard Music Awards this weekend. Eight. That’s eight separate things the people who voted think she’s better at than anyone else. Eight!

We were vaguely aware that Madonna was bothering babies in hot countries again, but hadn’t realised quite how many people in Malwai would like her to piss off home. It seems Madge’s claim to have built schools over there is contested by President Banda, who is also a bit miffed that the Queen of Pop sacked her sister as head of Madonna’s charity. It’s like these people don’t even want help from a vain billionaire.

The GLAAD Media Awards are given out by the Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation to ‘recognise and honour various branches of the media for their outstanding representations of the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community and the issues that affect their lives’. No one from the UK got anything, but we assume that’s more to do with it being an American organisation than our long-time misunderstood slang for cigarettes.

You’ll recognise a few of the faces in our gallery – Jake Shears, Snooki, Milla Jovovich, Dan Stevens from Downton Abbey (maybe) and Brett Ratner, who, as you may recall, was banned from producing the 2012 Oscars when he did a bad buring an interview to promote Tower Heist and used the word ‘fag’ not in a “Kate Moss loves ‘em” sense. Apparently he’s since repented by doing loads of positive work for the LGBT community, and thus got an award last night…

Back in the Days of Yore, Instagram was just a simple mobile phone application that allowed users to communicate via cat and food pictures. Lunches got cold and pets got egos, but it was a happy time (#nofilter). 

But then it all changed. Celebrities found Instagram and soon our precious feeds were full of grainy cleavages and bongo pipes. Sometimes cats and lunches still appeared but they were sexed up with an inappropriate Nashville filter or thong. We thought Instagram were too busy spending Mark Zuckerberg’s filthy cash to care, but then they listened and sent the below message to Madonna. Which she posted on her Instagram account! Oh Madge. You win.

It’s hard to know why Madonna would threaten to stop the soundcheck for her open air concert in Chile if people didn’t stop smoking. But she did. Perhaps it’s a bit like homeopathy, except in the air instead of water. Perhaps each air particle that’s been touched by a smoke particle hurts her as much as a whole cigarette. Or maybe the problem was the people in the crowd were all smoking gigantic cigarettes. Or maybe she just hates the Chileans. IT’S SO hard to TELL these days.
