Admittedly it was a tough time for anyone who wasn’t that into TMNT, Liam Gallagher or super sour sweets, but even amongst those who didn’t know their April O’Neil’s from their Krangs, Brad Pitt was considered to be in a pretty bad way. The nominations are in for this year’s Oscars and there’s nothing particularly different here from last week’s Golden Globes. The Descendents, Hugo, Tinker Tailor, The Artist, Moneyball are this year’s big nominations, all present in some form in most of the major categories, all released late in the year. A Better Life’s Demián Bichir was the only real surprise, receiving a nod in the Actor In A Leading Role section. Seriously, no Warrior?

It was the New York Film Critics’ Circle Awards last night, which is always tipped as an early indicator of how the Oscars might go, although clearly isn’t this year since the results aren’t actually correct in our completely objective opinion. Brad Pitt didn’t mind, mainly because he got an award. Angelina looked even happier, probably because she knew what he was going to do with his cane later. If we’d been there, we’d have taken it and spanked those pesky critics for not giving the award to Clooney instead.

Michael Pitt has had a nice varied career, wooing Michelle Williams in Dawson’s Creek, going down on Eva Green whilst she was on the blob in The Dreamers, shooting himself in the head in Last Night, making us feel slightly like shooting ourselves in the head by the 12th episode in Boardwalk Empire, and now modelling for Prada.
