Hard to believe, but we weren’t invited to the NY premiere of Madonna’s new film, W.E. Which is a shame, because both the idea of Madonna making a film about a misunderstood American in the UK, and the trailer for the film itself really, really makes us want to watch it. It just looks awful.

In terms of imaginative film titles, Man On A Ledge is up there with Dangerous Neighbour and Child With Unusual Powers. However, this was just the premiere, so we don’t have to go into to much detail about the film itself. HE’S ON A LEDGE. WHAT’S HE GOING TO DO?

Having not actually seen Ralph Fiennes modern adaptation of Shakespeare’s Coriolanus we couldn’t possibly comment on whether it’s any good or not. Looking at the trailer we’d agree with one YouTube commenter who said it looked like we finally get to see Voldemort fight Leonidas. Either way, the book of the film certainly seems to have been quite popular.

Because a lot of Hollywood people have egos larger than planets, they don’t tend to go to premieres of films that they don’t appear in – it would be a bit like turning up at someone else office, sitting at their desk and doing all their work for them. However, when the film in question is Liam Neeson’s The Grey, it’s an entirely different matter – they’re as excited for it as the rest of us. Look, Dawson Leery’s so keen to see Neeson get his action on, he’s practically dry humping his wife on the red carpet, whilst Kristen Bell pegged it straight from the People’s Choice Awards in the same dress – she’s got her priorities straight.

It was the premiere of Madonna’s W.E in London last night and it went somewhat better than last year’s London Film Festival launch when fans booed because the singer-turned-director didn’t want to hang around and say hello to their mate Maureen via their handset or sign any bus tickets. She learnt her lesson though, don’t worry. See, Madge – mingling isn’t so bad – especially if you’re wearing gloves so don’t have to touch any grubby Sharpies.

Hadn’t heard of this film until recently, but the trailer is impressive, as is the cast, so hopefully it’ll be the fast-paced high-flying financial thriller it promises to be. On another note, Zachary Quinto and Paul Bettany, in our humble opinions, are absolutely superb actors who don’t get enough airtime, so it’s great to see them getting an outing together.
