Close personal friends of the site JLS always lacked one crucial thing, for us. Sure, they were extremely funny, down-to-earth, lovely people who have so far never done anything annoying or objectionable. But they didn’t have that one record that properly appealed to more than their fanbase, that crossover track that makes the kind of people who wouldn’t normally like that sort of thing sit up and declare, “By jove! This is really rather excellent!” Until now. It’s no criticism to say that Hottest Girl In The World sounds like a previously unheard track from Justin Timberlake’s first album sessions. Because it was about time someone made another record like that. And since JT is too busy trying to save MySpace, Oritsé Williams, Marvin Humes, J.B. Gill and Aston Merrygold are bringing sexy back. Crumbs!

How does Tom Cruise looks so young despite being almost dead at 49? Is it maybe because his face is less affected by gravity, being so close to the ground, or is it perhaps that he’s chock a block full of thetans and Science magic that help to repair his skin with the souls of unbelieving aliens sacrificed on a far away planet by Scardos, the god of volcanoes and love? We’s all hoped it was gravity.

Not for the first time have we managed to completely overlook the arrival of a band who are so up our street we’re practically neighbours. Still Corners are *reads from press release* Greg Hughes, Tessa Murray, Luke Jarvis and Leon Dufficy, and they’re based in Greenwich. Not particularly interesting facts, we admit. But the fact we like it might give you a clue that their music is on the healthy side of shoegazey, with tumbling drums, trance-inducing swirly noises, Field Mice-style basslines and Julee Cruise-esque vocals.
