It’s use, as demonstrated by BAFTA-winning filmmaker Ryan McHenry is to make it look as if Ryan Gosling won’t eat his cereal. Happy Friday, everyone! The sun is shining, the birds are singing, and here’s a nice little video of Ryan Gosling taking notes from director Nicholas Winding Refn on the set of Only God Forgives.

It is mainly notable because whenever Refn says something a bit “oo-er”, Ryan looks at the camer and smirks in a way guaranteed to arouse, endear and amuse.

The new trailer for Only God Forgives, the second film by Drive pairing Ryan Gosling and Nicolas Winding Refn, has arrived and unsurprisingly it’s just as brooding and violent as it’s predecessor. And Drive, for that matter. In fact it’s looking a lot like Drive 2. Except without as many cars, and with more killing and maiming. Here’s the synopsis:

Bangkok. Ten years ago Julian [played by Ryan Gosling] killed a cop and went on the run. Now he manages a Thai boxing club as a front for a drugs operation. Respected in the criminal underworld, deep inside, he feels empty.

When Julian’s brother murders a prostitute the police call on retired cop Chang – the Angel of Vengeance. Chang allows the father to kill his daughter’s murderer, then ‘restores order’ by chopping off the man’s right hand. Julian’s mother Jenna [played by Oscar-nominee Kristin Scott Thomas] – the head of a powerful criminal organization – arrives in Bangkok to collect her son’s body. She dispatches Julian to find his killers and ‘raise hell’.

Sounds fun.

Here’s a nice bit of Ryan Gosling fan fiction for the ladies courtesy of Star ‘SEE YOU IN COURT’ magazine… Apparently the actor is sick and tired of seeing his girlfriend Eva Mendes naked all the time. He’s all, like, “Hey girl, I just want to cosy up on the sofa and cuddle while watching your favourite movie and eating ice cream – I adore your body, but I also love your mind – you know I don’t like to objectify women. Why don’t you cover your beautiful breasts and bottom with that old sweater and saggy pair of leggings I know you like to wear. Oh, and don’t feel you have to shave your legs just to please me.”

That would be our version anyway…

We saw someone on a motorbike get hit by a car a little while ago, and found ourselves hugely disappointed after leaving the scene of the accident without having had a single epiphany. He managed to brush it off and got back on his bike though, so maybe it wasn’t violent enough. Perhaps our epiphanies must be accompanied by a torrent of blood and pain. Hope not. Sounds awful.

Having said that, Ryan Gosling had his life changing experience after watching a nasty bike accident as a child, so maybe our problem is that we’re just not attractive enough.

“I was just a kid walking to school when I saw this guy get hit, and this motorcycle guy was there just lying in the middle of the street. I went up to him and he had blood coming from behind his head.”

My first thought was: I’ve got to get a motorcycle. There’s something messed up with my brain. I then got a paper route and saved up and got a [motor]bike when I was about 12 years old. I sat with it out in the yard for about a year just pretending I was riding it.”

The quote comes from a recent interview the hansome actor gave to The Telegraph in which he also said that he seems to be so adorable people couldn’t help but smile when he tried to rob a bank. Oh Ryan.
