Light entertainer (a little misleading given his size) Freddie Starr was initially arrested last year and then released on bail over allegations he’d been having sex with underage girls in Jimmy Savile’s dressing room, claims he tried to suppress with an injunction.

Since then he’s spent most of his energy decrying paedophiles, telling anyone who’ll listen how he hates nonces more than anything else in the world. Although by the looks of yesterday’s arrest the police aren’t 100 percent convinced that he’s telling the truth.

Scotland Yard said that a man in his sixties had been “further arrested on suspicion of sexual offences in connection with further allegations made to Operation Yewtree”.

Having said that, while the initial arrest was classed in the ‘Savile and others’ category of Operation Yewtree, yesterday’s arrest had nothing to do with sex -offences commited in tandem with the dead cigar-smoker. These sex offences were all of Starr’s own bat. Which at least shows initiative.
