There seems to be some confusion as to why there’s controversy surrounding the Fifty Shades of Grey books. Let us be quite clear, the reason we looked at you with disgust on the Tube earlier, as you proudly turned the pages of one of EL James’ books about shagging (written in the style of someone who sounds like they won’t even shake hands with the lights on) isn’t because we think you’re dirty for reading a book in which a woman describes her vagina as “my sex” but because we think you’re an idiot for reading a book in which a woman describes her vagina as “my sex”. And now there’s an album of all the classical music that’s absurdly mentioned throughout the dreadful trilogy. So you can buy that too.

If you’re reading 50 Shades Of Grey you disgust us. Not because it’s full of sex; life is full of sex (though most of it not as awkwardly described as when anti-author E. L. James writes about it). No, you disgust us because the trilogy is shit. Utter, terrible, one-monkey-smashing-his-cock-on-an-iPad could do better, shit. Stop reading it, put it in the bin, then set fire to the bin. These are books that make The Da Vinci Code embarrassed to be seen on the same shelves. Stop reading them. Unless you’re Amy Childs, because we don’t want to discourage her tentative steps into literacy, however misguided. But we fear she’s missed the point of the 50 Shades Of Shit franchise.
