What Celebrities Are Doing

You’d think you wouldn’t want to watch Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio singing on stage with Toploader, what with him saying he was a fascist and then saying he wasn’t a fascist when everyone started having a go at him. But there’s something disturbingly compelling about it. Like watching Hitler singing with Toploader. Or Mussolini singing with Toploader. They seem so happy. So innocent. It’s hard to imagine that the person singing with Toploader is actually a terrible fascist. Which Paolo Di Canio isn’t. Anymore.

The most excellent Nerina Pallot has released a new set of songs entitled The Lonely Valentine Club EP, because it is that time of year when everyone still goes to their letterbox in some vague hope that someone likes them even though they have never received a Valentine’s card ever, ever, ever. We filmed her singing that song on a staircase at the Islington Assembly Hall while some men moved heavy objects around above us.

Ok, so Yoko might not actually realise that she’s singing along to Katy Perry’s Firework in the above video because there’s a small possiblity some bright spark (get it) added the piano accompaniment afterwards, but that doesn’t mean The Bad Beatle didn’t somehow subconciously know what she was doing. After all, both Katy Perry’s song and Yoko’s shouting fit came out AT A SIMILAR TIME IN 2010. Which, legally speaking, almost certainly means one copied the other, and we think it’s safe to say it’s now very clear who plagiarised who.

Isn’t that right, KATY PERRY.
