Mancusco takes US giant slalom title (AP)

Julia Mancuso won the giant slalom in the U.S. alpine skiing championships on Tuesday, becoming the most accomplished skier at nationals and taking her fourth title in the discipline. Mancuso beat Laurenne Ross, of Klamath Falls, Ore., finishing in 2 minutes, 7.52 seconds to take her 11th national title in all.

Schleper, Ford take slalom titles at US Alpine (AP)

Olympians Sarah Schleper and Tommy Ford won slalom titles at the U.S. Alpine Championships at Whiteface Mountain on Sunday. The win for the 31-year-old Schleper, a four-time Olympian, continued a comeback to the U.S. Ski Team that began two years ago after the birth of her son, Lasse. “I didn’t have the results last year until the end of the season,” said Schleper, of Vail, Colo.

Herbst of Austria wins slalom World Cup title (AP)

Reinfried Herbst gave Austria its only men’s title of the season, clinching the slalom crystal globe in the final race on Saturday. Ted Ligety of the United States, who clinched the giant slalom title Friday, clipped the first gate of the second run and dropped out. Felix Neureuther delighted his hometown crowd by posting the fastest second run after finishing fifth in the first.

Riesch wins slalom World Cup title for Germany (AP)

Olympic champion Maria Riesch of Germany won her second straight slalom World Cup title with a third-place finish in the final race of the season on Saturday. Marlies Schild of Austria won the race by a comfortable margin, with teammate Kathrin Zettel placing second. But Riesch’s third place was enough to give her the slalom title with 493 points, just three ahead of Zettel.

Schild leads in final women’s World Cup slalom (AP)

Marlies Schild of Austria had a big lead after Saturday’s first run of the final World Cup slalom race of the season, while Olympic champion Maria Riesch was ahead of her rivals for the event title. Riesch was fourth, while Austria’s Kathrin Zettel, who is 23 points back, was sixth. Sandrine Aubert of France, who also has a mathematical title chance, was eighth.

Hoelzl wins giant slalom WCup title; Vonn crashes (AP)

Olympic silver medalist Tina Maze of Slovenia won the final giant slalom race of the season Thursday and Kathrin Hoelzl of Germany clinched the World Cup title in the event by finishing second. Maria Riesch of Germany placed third to cut Lindsey Vonn’s overall World Cup lead to 165 points with two races remaining.
