While the received opinion is that no X Factor finalists except JLS have secure careers, we’re all forming our hands into horse-blinkers and hoping Olly Murs will have gone away the next time we look up, so that we don’t have to deal with the fact that his music career is doing remarkably well. But should we be celebrating what seems, on the surface, an unthinkable aberration?
