What Celebrities Are Doing

As far as we can tell, Pacific Rim is a cross between Avatar, Transformers and Godzilla. Based on that knowledge alone, we’d have probably given it a wide berth. Not helping us at all, director Guillermo Del Toro described it as ‘A beautiful poem to giant monsters’.

But that’s the point, it’s been directed by Guillermo Del Toro, who in our eyes can do no wrong. He’s like Christoper Nolan, Wes Anderson and Matthew Vaughn in that he could direct  a Go Compare advert and we’d pay to watch it.

Having said that, even with his hands and the helm, it still looks a bit suspect, so we’ll have to wait and see. Good to see Idris Elba, anyway.

This week has seen announcements from both Nintendo and Apple about their newest piece of hardware, and while the whole world seemed to soak its knickers at the mere mention of the iPhone 5, the Wii-U didn’t quite get the huge fanfare Nintendo might have hoped.

As avid fans of anything big and robotic and vaguely dangerous looking, we should really be looking forward to Battleship. However, by those same rules we also should have enjoyed Transformers.
