We don’t quite know what happened here but it looks like Rihanna was grabbed by a fan in a way she objected to. So she hit them with her microphone. Welcome to Birmingham. You can see from the obligatory dodgy phone footage that it’s quite a hefty whack. Maybe it was Joe McElderry trying to sing along like he did with Beyonce. But the important thing is no one was hurt. Unless they were. We just don’t know.

We know what the Holy Moly readers want. They want a video of a band playing an introspective, orchestral and beautifully miserable song in front of a volcano. We’d previously assumed These New Puritans were none of our business but their new album Field Of Reeds is absolutely frigging marvellous. A proper, no messing about contender for album of the year (and that Mercury thing that people get all worked up about). If we had time to review albums anymore we’d be looking at a nine out of ten here. This track Fragment Two is probably the most “singy” on the whole record. There’s a really good one that sounds like the soundtrack to an edgy ‘80s cop show. We’re really selling it to you, aren’t we?

How rich do you imagine Katy Perry must be? Pretty fucking rich, right? Certainly rich enough to have no justification for starring in an extended advert for Popchips, who’ve moved on from racial stereotyping to putting wigs on cats and making the kind of laugh-free comedy normally reserved for very bad American children’s television. They’d probably like it if we used a pun and called it a catastrophe. But it’s more like a cuntastrophe. Use that in your poster campaign you potato-based shits.
