The Daily Mail has a very curious relationship with women – they seem particularly fond of those who are neither fat nor skinny nor powerful nor working class nor heavily made-up nor natural nor old nor young. A jury panel made up of Sienna Miller and Shia LaBeouf recently announced the long list of names for the BAFTA Orange Rising Star Award and now the public have taken a look at it and seperated the wheat from chaff for a shortlist. Chaff being the women and wheat being the men, because apparently there aren’t any promising actresses around right now (this is despite the National Board of Review jointly awarding a prize to Rooney Mara and Felicity Jones because the choice was too much just yesterday)…

Despite Cosmopolitan quite clearly stating last week that Kelly Rowland and someone from Downton Abbey were the Women of the Year, Harper’s Bazaar has defiantly made its own list with some other women. Seems like a bit of a sly dig – is Harper’s trying to suggest that Cosmo hadn’t considered all possibilities? We were initially happy to accept the original list but now we’re not so sure… And to further add to the confusion, there are some men on the list. Head fuck.

They’re just taking the piss now, aren’t they? First Cosmo were all like ‘here are the women of the year’, then Harper’s were all ‘actually, these are’, and now Glamour have only gone and come up with very own list. We just don’t know who to believe. We were going go with Glamour because we’re a sucker for a-listers, but they’ve included the entire Bush clan, so maybe we’ll go back to Cosmo’s list because they had Amanda Holden and she seems nice. OR maybe we’ll just do our own list and show them all. One step at a time though.

What the Woodcraft Folk are to the Brownies, tributes are to award ceremonies – less competitive and more of a happy-clappy cheer for all – ‘hey girl, you special – have a prize just for being YOU’. Judging from last night’s bash, pretty much every woman in Hollywood was honoured. Except Divine Brown, Angelina Jolie and the Rite Aid pharmacist, which is a bit unfair since they work harder than anyone else.
